ECo flight

2024/2025

ECO Flight:

ActionArt for the ecosystem

The Eco-flight project is an artistic and social action that takes us  through a reflection on the challenges of the environment. It is a  transformative social campaign process and performance that combines  vertical dance, visual arts and live music to raise awareness of the  excesses of consumerism and the pressures on our planet's finite natural  resources. Eco Flight is a Hungarian,  Spanish, Czech, and Slovak partnership, encouraging attention to the  urban environment and exploring the relationship between man and nature  in the air.

Creative Upcycling Workshops for Children and Families

Dafa  Theater implemented two special, environmentally conscious craft  workshops as part of the Eco-Flight project, where children and their  families created unique works of art from recycled materials. The  program aims to introduce participants to the importance of  sustainability, waste reduction, and environmental responsibility in a  playful and creative way.

    Puppet-Making & Giant Mask Workshop

In this session, Jeries AbuJaber and Husam Abed guide young participants at Mama Tata School, to  craft their own puppets and a giant mask by creatively reusing newspaper. The workshop was enriched with fun games and storytelling, making it an enjoyable experience for all ages. Beyond offering a hands-on creative activity, the session also highlighted the  possibilities of recycling paper waste in imaginative ways.

Special thanks to InBáze, z. s.  and Blanka Charvatova for their support in making this workshop possible, and to Adriana Vancova for capturing the event through photos  and videos.

      THE NIGHT THE EARTH SHOOK

      2019

An international theater collaboration led by NY-based artist and activist Monica Hunken, co-founders of Dafa Theater Husam Abed and Réka Deák. A series of  performative workshops will lead to a devised site-specific outdoors performance investigating themes of mass migration and climate change. Through the transformative power of theater in public space, walls and  gates should be transformed into free pathways and new spaces created to  discover hope in the collective, through community celebration,  dialogue and creation.
The collaborative site-specific show that  will be informed by local stories and will be interactive, musical,  anti-racist and anti-fascist, will give space for audience to imagine a  future when everybody walks the walk together and each step leads closer  to the new world.
Singers, musicians, poets, puppeteers, dancers,  artists – but also non-performers – are welcome to participate and  create together.
