    Recycling Puppetry for Eco-Awareness

    Two weeks workshops, university students of Waste Management went through intensive training in know-how to make puppets: from recycled materials and explore different sizes of performing: for small scale within a classroom, in the streets.

      In one-hour shadow theater and a tabletop puppet musical performance, the audience attends a satire that  tackles social problems: the complicated aspects of immigration with a  biting humor that cuts through the preconceived notions, norms and  prejudices the audience has.

          The film sheds light on the struggle of alienation,  daily harassment and rejection that some Sudanese face due to racial  discrimination. At Amman’s 7Hills Skatepark, a Sudanese refugee  community has built a safe environment filled with genuine relationships  that are blossoming regardless of all differences.

          The film is inspired by the biography of Palestinian visual artist Karim Shaheen. Based on an original object theatre play written by Astrid Mendez, Husam Abed and Marek Turosik


          MY FRIEND THE WAR MAKER is an exquisite experimental film that draws its inspiration from the life of the artist Karim Shaheen, masterfully adapting the captivating acclaimed object theater play War Maker into a breathtaking visual experience. Unlike traditional documentation of theater performances, this cinematic masterpiece transcends mere replication, instead delivering a dreamlike world through its stunning scenography and mesmerizing manipulation of objects. The resultant visual poetry is the defining feature of both the film and the original play, offering a truly unique and unforgettable avant-garde experience.
